Bids For St. Pete Pier Design Go Global

The bid to design the new St. Petersburg Pier has submissions from 30 architecture firms located in Florida, New York, California, Massachusetts, Atlanta, South Carolina, London and Italy.

One architect in particular is New York-based Studio Daniel Libeskind, the architect behind the One World Trade Center at Ground Zero.

Tampa Bay area architects include Wannemacher Hensen Architects and Harvard Jolly Architecture in St. Petersburg, and Tampa-based firms HKS, Inc., HOK, Alfonso Architects Inc., and Machado and Silvetti Associates. Global firm Atkins of North America, which has offices throughout the Tampa Bay area, also submitted a proposal.
