Andrea Daly, Publisher

Andrea Daly is a longtime Tampa Bay media and marketing professional with a career built around audience growth, strategic partnerships and community connection. As publisher of 83 Degrees, she brings decades of experience across print, broadcast, events and radio, along with a deep understanding of the people and ideas shaping the region.

Andrea held leadership roles at the Tampa Bay Times, the Tampa Tribune and WFLA-TV, where she built audiences, developed partnerships and helped brands connect with their target communities. She serves as an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida Zimmerman School of Advertising and Mass Communications, where she helps prepare the next generation of communicators.

A Tampa native and USF graduate with an MBA in Marketing and Marketing Research, Andrea believes the stories that matter most are the ones focused on progress, people and positive impact. That’s what brought her to 83 Degrees. In her free time, she enjoys the arts, local culture and the unique spots that make Tampa Bay home.

Chris Curry, Managing Editor

Chris Curry has been writing features and news items for 83 Degrees since 2017 and previously served as development news editor. Chris grew up in Clearwater and spent more than 15 years as a newspaper reporter, primarily in Ocala and Gainesville, before moving back to his hometown. Chris graduated from the University of Notre Dame and later earned a master’s degree in mass communications from USF-St. Petersburg’s waterfront campus. He enjoys Tampa Bay for the local music scene, the sunshine, and the outdoor festivals and events that make each weekend unique. Chris can frequently be found at Pinellas County’s scenic nature parks, hoofing it around the recreational trail.

Diane Egner, Founding Publisher

Diane Egner is a community leader and award-winning journalist with more than four decades of experience reporting and writing about the Tampa Bay Area of Florida. She serves on the Florida Humanities Board of Directors, University of South Florida Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications Advisory Council, The Institute for Research in Art Community Advisory Council, and Henry B. Plant Museum Board of Directors. She is a member of Leadership Florida, a past chair of LF’s West Central Region Council, and is a member of Athena Society in Tampa.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BA in journalism, she won the top statewide award for editorial writing from the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors and from the Florida Medical Association while at the Tampa Tribune and received special recognition by the Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists for creative work as Content Director at WUSF Public Media. Diane and her husband, Sandy Rief, live in Tampa.

Lead photographer, Carole Devillers

Carole Devillers’ career as a freelance photojournalist spans four decades spent in West Africa, Haiti, New Mexico, and Florida, where she currently lives in Tampa. She has several National Geographic articles to her credit as well as images in numerous national and international publications. As a Reuters News Pictures photo correspondent in Haiti, she spent 10 years recording the political unrest of that country, which led her to be shot at (they missed), to be held at gunpoint, and to have film confiscated. She is the author of more than a dozen children’s photo books on Haiti and on caving (a favorite hobby for her). In Florida, she fell in love with birds, which resulted in her photo book, “Glimpses of Iconic Birds of Florida,” and in her becoming a volunteer bird steward for Audubon Florida. She is represented in the book “Women Photographers at National Geographic” and lives by Helen Keller’s quote “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” Learn more about Devillers and her work.
