Pasco County To Provide Loans To Small Businesses
A new microloan program in Pasco County is aimed at small businesses that may not otherwise be able to borrow money.
The Pasco County EconomicĀ Development CouncilĀ (EDC) hasĀ found fundingĀ to help provide seed money toĀ small businesses throughoutĀ PascoĀ County.
Thanks toĀ CenterState Bank,Ā theĀ EDCās microloan program has the funds toĀ launch.Ā The bank recentlyĀ donated $5,000 toĀ the countyĀ through itsĀ CommunityĀ Reinvestment Act program.Ā
The microloan program, set to launch in MarchĀ 2012,Ā will lend moneyĀ to small businesses located in Pasco County, and will offer entrepreneurs free technical assistance and training to help work through challenges they may face in starting or growing a new business.Ā
āIt developed fromĀ a need for small business owners,āĀ explainsĀ Michael Cox, chairman of theĀ Pasco EDCās Growth TaskĀ Force andĀ VPĀ at Wells Fargo Advisors.Ā āThe types of loans weāreĀ going toĀ make are the ones banksĀ donāt like to make or canāt make.Ā But itās a need for our small business owners. Weāve been in the process of doing it for the past six months. And nowĀ we have the funds to start it.ā
Pasco EDC continues to activelyĀ seekĀ community leaders and businesses that want toĀ help buildĀ the fund.Ā Loan applicants must be for-profit companies located in Pasco County, and borrowers must proveĀ to possess the experience andĀ resourcesĀ necessaryĀ forĀ success. LoansĀ may be used for working capital, inventory, supplies, furniture, fixtures, machinery and equipment, but may notĀ be used for real estateĀ purchasesĀ orĀ refinancingĀ existing debt.Ā
