Since weekly flights between Tampa International Airport and Cuba began, Tampa Bay businesses have made an effort to strengthen business ties with Cuban leaders.

Tampa intends to position itself as a new gateway city by linking the cultural heritage of Cuba and Ybor City, according to a recent article in the Miami Herald.

In September the Florida Orchestra sent musicians to deliver nearly 50 donated instruments to the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory in Havana. U.S. House Rep. Kathy Castor of Tampa and Bob Rohrlack, president and CEO of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, plan trips in 2012  to show support for increasing international business.
