Manufacturer Moves From U.K. To Bradenton, 20 Jobs
An infrared inspectionĀ windowĀ manufacturerĀ has relocated from the U.K. to Lakewood Ranch in Bradenton and is hiring for 20 additional jobs.
IRISS recently movedĀ its headquarters to Bradenton, andĀ accordingĀ toĀ Karen Wells, VP ofĀ Global Operations,Ā IRISS is currently hiring sales reps and specialists inĀ metal forming,Ā powder coating,Ā CNC punch press,Ā stud welding, spot weldingĀ and assembly workers.Ā āWe committed to 20 more jobs starting out. But, as we grow, weāll do better than that. ThisĀ area presents anĀ excellent opportunityĀ to hireĀ talented employees.ā
Wells, aĀ graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a degree in industrial management, says IRISS foundersĀ Martin and DeborahĀ Robinson opened the business in 1997Ā in theĀ U.K. and subsequentlyĀ moved the assembly portionĀ of their business toĀ Bradenton inĀ 2005 because less stringent regulatory requirements exist in the U.S.Ā The decision to relocate the headquarters toĀ Manatee CountyĀ is fueled by both climate andĀ economic incentives.
āManatee has aĀ niceĀ climate,ā says Wells.Ā āAnd itsĀ infrastructureĀ and the location of airports make it attractive as well.Ā A lot of our clients come from up north and we want to entice them to attend ourĀ workshops.Ā And this is a great area to come down and do that.Ā And the county and state offered some tremendous incentives to move business here.ā
Wells saysĀ IRISSāĀ future looks favorable.Ā āWeāve been able to grow 60 percent year over year. We play in a marketplaceĀ that is easily a $10 billion industry and we should be able to obtain a big share of that industry ā $50Ā toĀ $75 million in sales. Our business plan shows that we canĀ reach that goal.ā
