Forum Tackles Energy Management, Sustainability

The regional Energy Management and Sustainability Forum will be held on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 1p.m. at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Known as E3: Energy, Environment and Economics, the forum will provide regional fleets managers and facility managers an opportunity to share best practices and practical ways to save energy and use alternative fuels.

The focus of E3 is to assist organizations with managing their carbon footprint in today’s economy. Discussions will also be held regarding carbon credits for green activities that businesses and communities perform.

“We must come together regionally and talk about practical approaches in our sustainability efforts. It starts with sharing ideas and knowledge,” says Hillsborough County Commissioner Rose Ferlita. “From there, I hope leadership throughout the area can come together and discuss larger initiatives.”

Ferlita announced the plans for the forum at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on December 2.

“I am focused on smart environmental initiatives that will yield financial benefits to our county; we can do both,” Ferlita says.

Registration for the conference is now open and is limited to 150 attendees. The cost of $25 includes parking, morning snack and lunch.
