Sarasota

Sarasota and the arts share a history. John and Mable Ringling made Sarasota their home in 1911, building a mansion/museum that now houses a superb collection of famed paintings from around the world. Famous authors, syndicated comic strip artists and movie stars live here right alongside the locals. The city is also home to the Ringling College of Art & Design, which produces highly sought animators and graphic artists, and New College, frequently named among the nation’s best private colleges. Downtown Sarasota bustles with art galleries, outdoor dining, retail shops and playhouses.
