St. Petersburg Blogger Examines Economic Impact Of Florida Tourism
The Creative Class blog, which is inspired by the work of Richard Florida, recently featured a blog post by St. Petersburg-based blogger Peter Kageyama that examined the impact of tourism on Florida’s economy. He writes that Florida’s tourism-driven economy is double-edged sword. While tourism has provided enough tax revenue to allow the state eliminate the income tax, the unpredictable nature of the industry makes it difficult to invest in Florida’s future. It also leads people to underestimate Florida’s potential when it comes to industries not related to tourism.
