Aircraft Manufacturer Adds 34 Jobs In Palmetto, Manatee
Aircraft manufacturer moves jobs from Ohio to Palmetto in Manatee County, Florida.
Ohio-basedĀ GSEĀ HoldingsĀ is movingĀ HobartĀ Ground Power, itsĀ aircraftĀ ground power business, from Troy, OH, toĀ Palmetto,Ā expanding its current facility and hiringĀ a number ofĀ positions.
āWeāveĀ been in Manatee County withĀ smaller operationsĀ for more thanĀ 25 years,ā saysĀ Richard Hansen, VP and generalĀ manager ofĀ ITWĀ Military GSE.Ā āWe own quite a bit of landĀ for our campus, which weāre going to add to.Ā Weāre planning on hiring 27 assembly people and 6 or 7 staff, including engineers, purchasing folks and production managers.ā
GSE Holdings Inc. is a subsidiaryĀ of Illinois Tool Works Inc.Ā andĀ manufactures aircraft ground support equipment and accessories.Ā Hobart Ground PowerĀ will shareĀ an expandedĀ 100,000 square foot facilityĀ with two existingĀ GSE businesses,Ā Trilectron Industries and ITW Military GSE.Ā
Hobartās move and expansion was facilitated byĀ theĀ Manatee Board of County Commissioners, which approved $42,000Ā inĀ performance-basedĀ incentivesĀ as well asĀ impact fee incentives estimated at $3,836.Ā In addition,Ā Hobart receivedĀ $168,000 from theĀ state of Florida.Ā
āWeĀ think that the state in general is an attractiveĀ placeĀ to work,ā saysĀ Hansen. āWeāve always had good operating facilities here,Ā and thatās why we chose to relocate here as opposed to California, whereĀ we have another plant thatĀ we could have moved to.ā
