After a decade of projects, Tampa’s Green Spine cycle track has reached the final phase of construction.

The last section of the protected two-way bike lane through the city’s urban core is an approximately third-of-a-mile stretch along West Cass Street between North Howard and North Rome avenues. Construction work is expected to be completed in late summer.

When the final section is complete, the Green Spine will be a nearly 3.5-mile bike route connecting North Hyde Park, downtown, and Ybor City. It will also link up to the city’s ongoing West Riverwalk expansion, providing a safe, accessible bike route into West Tampa. The final phase costs just under $1 million. The main source of funding is a Florida Department of Transportation Local Agency Program (LAP) federal grant. The contractor is Timm Group Building & General Contractors.
