Tampa Bay Region Moves Toward Transit
TampaBay.org reports that the Hillsborough County Commission recently approved an ordinance that serves as the first step to a major upgrade of the area’s public transit system. It will allow the county attorney to draft ballot language for a County Charter amendment that, if approved by voters, would create a penny sales tax that would fund, among other things, a light rail system, major road construction projects and pedestrian trails.
