Marine scientists from the U.S, Mexico and Cuba recently met at Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota to discuss conservation issues, including those relating to the Gulf Coast oil spill.
The
Tri-national Initiative plans to take the next 30 days to draft a formal document detailing each group's role in the research project.
The three-day meeting took place from Sept. 27-29, and a related workshop on Sept. 30 discussed the management of shark fisheries throughout the Gulf.
