Martin County, FP&L To Complete World's Second-Largest Solar Plant In 2010

The construction continues on Florida Power & Light Co.'s newest solar energy plant located in Indiantown.

When it is completed later this year, the Martin Next Generation Solar Energy Center will be the second-largest solar plant in the world.

The Martin County plant will operate on a one-of-a-kind approach that utilizes the steam produced from the heat exhaust of four natural-gas plants in the area to spin an existing generator.

The $420 million plant is expected to operate for the next 50 years.
