Two Ellenton Figure Skating Teams Head To Vancouver For Winter Olympics

The Sunshine State would seem like an unlikely place for an ice skater to pursue Olympic dreams, but four figure skaters from the Tampa Bay area town of Ellenton have enough skating chops to get them a shot at the gold.

The Sararsota Herald-Tribune reports that the two teams trained at the Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex, the only ice rink between Brandon and Ft. Meyers.

The report profiles the Perezes, the couple that got the idea to built an ice arena and bring in a three-time Olympic and world championship coach to direct the venue's ice skating program.
