Sarasota Aims To Attract International Rowing Competitions

Nathan Benderson Park, a 600-acre site located in Sarasota County, will undergo development to transform it into what officials hope will be a top destination for international rowing competitions.

Sarasota County has allotted $5 million in tourism tax money for the expansion of the lake and construction, which will include boathouses and grandstands.

The project is expected to be completed in time for Benderson Park to host the 2012 NCAA rowing championships.
