The St. Petersburg Times editorialized about the Hillsborough County Commission's approval of an ordinance that serves as the first step to a major upgrade of the area's public transit system.
"The Hillsborough County Commission showed the sort of leadership last week that it has lacked for the entire decade,"
opined the Times.
The ordinance will allow the county attorney to draft ballot language for a County Charter amendment that, if approved by voters, would create a penny sales tax to fund, among other things, a light rail system, major road construction projects and pedestrian trails.
