The Salvador Dali Museum may be closer to its 2011 opening thanks
to the Pinellas County Tourist Development Council's recommendation to
county commissioners to use $2.5 million of hotel bed tax revenue to
fund the museum's completion.
Construction of the $36 million building has slowed until the museum can come up with the last $6 million.
The
St. Petersburg City Council recently agreed to give the museum $2.5 million
toward completion as long as the county matched that amount. The museum
would rely on donations for the remaining $1 million.
