USF Develops Drug That May Be Worth Millions

The St. Petersburg Times reports on its front page Ā that researchers at the University of South Florida have developed and patented an antidepressant that may make hundreds of millions of dollars for the university. The antidepressant came about inadvertantly; the researchers had initially sought to develop the drug, originally a blood pressure medication,Ā as a treatment for Tourette’s syndrome in the mid 1990s.
