As Florida's only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive
cancer treatment facility, Moffitt treats patients from all over the
world. The center, a nonprofit institution, offers private patient
rooms with 206 beds, the Southeast's largest Blood and Marrow
Transplant Program, outpatient treatment programs that will record more
than 272,000 visits in 2009, the Moffitt Research Center, The Moffitt
Clinic at Tampa General Hospital and the Lifetime Cancer Screening
& Prevention Center. Research includes Molecular Oncology,
Drug Discovery, Immunology/Immunotherapy, Experimental Therapeutics,
Risk Assessment, Detection and Intervention, and Health Outcomes and
Behavior. Moffitt is also the site of the National Functional Genomics
Center funded by the U.S. Department of Defense.
