Draper Laboratory, a Cambridge MA-based research and development laboratory, operates growing centers in Tampa and in St. Petersburg. The Draper Bioengineering Center at the University of South Florida in Tampa features 10,000 square feet of lab space for biologists, biochemists, bioengineers and other bioscientists to design MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems). The Multichip Module Facility in St. Petersburg employs electrical and mechanical engineers and contains a "clean room" for electronics manufacturing.
