Polk County recently recognized Clark Environmental in Mulberry, a leader in environmentally friendly technology, as one of the region’s best places to work.

The award criteria included worker training, company communication, pay and benefits.

Clark burns petroleum-contaminated soils for energy. It also treats sludge and other petroleum byproducts and contaminated substances, helping companies keep their facilities clean so they don’t damage the environment.

Clark has a holding area where it can keep the gases, liquids and solid byproducts for companies while it evaluates them. It also has partnerships throughout the world that help evaluate, treat and dispose contaminated business byproducts safely, in landfills, or through other ways, such as burning.

Off State Road 60 in Mulberry, Clark is doing a lot to innovate, expand and help industry become more green and more thorough in treating and disposing its byproducts, said Jim DeGennaro, senior business marketing manager for the Central Florida Development Council in Lakeland.
