Arts Fuel Local Economy
Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture and the Arts reports that a 2009 study has found that nonprofit arts organizations’ impact on the economy of Hillsborough County is nearly $298 million annually. The study, part of a nationwide research project by the nonprofit arts advocate Americans for the Arts that measures the financial benefit or nonprofit arts groups nationwide, does not include for-profit entities like private art galleries. According to this study, the nonprofit arts industry supports more jobs than other key industries, including public safety and accounting.
