White House Honors USF Science Professor

The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports that Ashanti Johnson, an associate professor of marine chemistry at USF St. Petersburg’s College of Marine Science, received recognition from the White House in conjunction with the Obama Administration’s Educate to Innovate program.

Johnson, the executive director of the Institute for Broadening Participation, was honored because of her work at advocating increased access to science education.

Johnson was among numerous honorees whose recognition coincided with Obama’s announcement that several businesses – including Intel – would be partnering with the White House as part of the initiative.
