St. Petersburg-based Plasma-Therm, has opened a new division and facility, and will be hiring in 2011.

The new division, Rev-Tech Manufacturing Solutions, will complement the better-established Plasma-Therm company. The equipment at Rev-Tech will be used to produce semiconductor chips, which are essential for the function of products such as LED TVs, cell phones, hard drives and other electronic products. Companies around the world including Samsung, Toshiba and Philips rely on the equipment at Plasma-Therm to produce their products.

According to Luis Gomez, business manager at Rev-Tech, the company will be hiring at least a dozen people in 2011 to work in the new facility.

“Rev-Tech will be hiring experienced, specially trained machinists throughout the year,” Gomez says. “Right now, Rev-Tech is searching for CNC machinists and programmers to join the team.”

Plasma-Therm invested nearly $1 dollars in Rev-Tech, and according to the company, the new facility has one of the largest water-jet cutting systems in Florida.

“Rev-Tech provides a vertical integration opportunity by enabling Plasma-Therm to control the quality of the machined pieces used in the plasma processing equipment they manufacture,” Gomez says. “Rev-Tech will also be able to provide high-quality and precision service to the biomedical, aerospace and defense industries within the community to bring other sources of revenue to the Plasma-Therm group.”

Rev-Tech Manufacturing Solutions is at 9900 18th St. N., Suite 105, in St. Petersburg.
