Community Bank in Lakewood Ranch, was founded by Bill Sedgeman, chairman and CEO,  in November 1995. At the time, he had one branch with 12 employees; which grew to approximately 55 employees at five locations in 2010. In 2011, Community Bank acquired First Community Bank of America, bringing the total number of branches to 17.
