Raymond Arsenault, a professor of southern history at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, recently made an appearance on Oprah to discuss his latest book.
"Freedom Riders: 1961 and the Struggle for Racial Justice," describes the events that occurred when more than 400 people boarded public buses in protest against segregation.
An hour-long episode dedicated to the Freedom Riders, Arsenault and documentary director Stanley Nelson aired May 4.
