A jury of five narrowed down the competition to redesign the St. Petersburg Pier from 23 firms to nine.
The Tampa office of global architecture firm HOK joins semifinalists Michael Maltzan Architecture in Los Angeles, Farshid Moussavi Architecture in London, and New York City-based firms West 8 Urban Design, BIG, James Corner Field Operations, Frederic Schwartz, Weiss/Manfredi Architectural/ Landscape/Urbanism and Imelk Urban Design.
Three finalists will be chosen on Aug. 19, before the jury's final vote for the winning design on Feb. 2.
