University of South Florida M.F.A alumnus Kalup Linzy grabbed headlines for his collaboration with actor James Franco earlier this year, but recently the Stuckey, FL native has caught the attention of the arts community on his own.
The New York Times recently profiled the 34-year-old artist, calling him a "gender-bending, genre-defying video-and-performance artist."
Kalup was also recently lauded in an
Artforum review of his role in the four-night run of "Four Saints in Three Acts," an avant-garde opera at the
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Critic Joseph Akel stated, "Linzy is on his way to even greater recognition."
