Firelight Media's TV documentary on the civil rights efforts of 400 Americans in 1961 were recently honored with three Emmy nominations.
Director Stanley Nelson's
Freedom Riders was recognized for Outstanding Picture Editing For Nonfiction Programming, Exceptional Merit in Nonfiction Filmmaking and Outstanding Writing for Nonfiction Programming.
Nelson's documentary was inspired by the book by University of South Florida professor Dr. Raymond Arsenault.
The 63rd Primetime Emmys will air Sept. 18 on Fox.
