Sarasota's Medical Education Technologies Inc., maker of human patient simulators, was recently acquired by Montreal's CAE Inc.
The sales and marketing of CAE's Health Care division will be based in Sarasota County, while research and development will occur at headquarters in Montreal.
METI is home to the 200-pound wireless patient simulator,
iStan, which is used in the medical training programs of schools such as The Mayo Clinic, Harvard and the University of South Florida.
CAE Inc., which has annual revenues exceeding $1.6 billion, specializes in flight simulation systems and currently employs 7,500 people in more than 20 countries.
