National Flood Services (NFS), a Montana-based flood insurance processor, recently opened an office in Lakeland, and as a result is currently hiring.
The company acts as a third party, processing claims for insurance companies. According to NFS CEO Michael Jones, the company picked Lakeland because of the number of individuals with experience in the flood insurance industry.
"Florida is one of the primary states in the program," Jones says. "I believe Florida makes up an excess of 40 percent of the entire policy and premium for the national flood insurance program."
According to Jones, NFS will be hiring 40 to 50 people by the end of the year.
"We will be filling job positions related to customer service, underwriting and claims," Jones says. "There is an opportunity for us to hire people in the
Lakeland area who have prior flood processing experience, which is very helpful."
Jones says the new employees will be supporting operations across the United States. "The Lakeland staff will be working on behalf of the program in every place it is offered, which are the 51 states, plus Guam, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico," he says.
While the company recently held an open house for interested job applicants, Jones says NFS has many positions to fill at its Lakeland office, and will continue hiring throughout the year. "We are still in need of candidates," Jones says. "We have not hired all of the people we need to hire, so there are still positions open."
The new offices of
National Flood Services are at the Heritage Business Center on Commerce Point Drive.
