The Sixth Annual
Sarasota Medieval Fair will celebrate its second weekend (rain or shine) Friday, Nov. 20, through Sunday, Nov. 22. The 2009 theme is the Battle of Hastings - Oct. 14th, 1066 a.d. (English vs. Norman).
This year the fair will introduce its first annual
Student Discovery Day from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Friday. It's an exclusive festival day for students only (and will not be open to the general public) that will provide them with an opportunity to experience the curriculum by interacting with authentic costumed characters from the 11th century. Tickets are $5 per student, plus discounted tickets for teachers/chaperones.
The rest of the world can experience 1066 A.D., along with William the Conquerer, tournaments and jousting on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. There are 14 stages hosting more than 80 shows daily. Some of the featured acts include, interactive, comedic shows from The Tortuga Twins and the Da Vinci Brothers, band performances from Empty Hats and Ken Spivey Band, and much more.
The Fair will be at the
Sarasota Fair Grounds and tickets will be available at the gate. Prices are $16.95 for adults, $14.95 for seniors and students, $8.95 for children 5-12 years of age and free for kids 4 and under.
