Humana, a Medicare health plan contractor, plans to add 200 positions to its customer service center in Tampa. The company is Florida's largest Medicare health plan contractor, as well as one of the largest health care employers in the Tampa Bay region.
"We will be hiring customer service agents who will be working on calls that support our Humana Medicare benefits plan and senior product plans," says Ed Offner, operations manager for the customer service call center. "In addition to agents, we will be hiring front line leaders who will serve as supervisors."
Offner says that the center is hiring due to the amount of people the center services. "Based on our current membership we see there is a need for additional customer service agents to service the members who are calling in," he says. "These agents won't just be servicing members in Florida, it will be supporting plans nationwide."
Due to open enrollment coming up on Oct. 15th, Offner says the customer service center hopes to fill the 200 positions before the end of September. "We have a very extensive training program we want new employees to go through to be ready for open enrollment on Oct. 15th," Offner says.
For those interested in customer service employment opportunities with
Humana, Offner explains what the company is looking for in potential employees. "We are looking for individuals who have call-center experience and have computer savvy, meaning they can maneuver their way through multiple screens," Offner says. "We are also looking for those with nice phone etiquette, who can cater to seniors, as that is the population they will be servicing the most."
Humana's customer service center is located in
NetPark, 5701 E. Hillsborough Ave. in
Tampa.
