A few months ago, Sidd Pagidipati, received an unsolicited email for laser hair removal. As he deleted the email from his inbox, he imagined how great it would be if he only received deals via email for places he actually patronized. As a result, MealDeal.com was launched.
"We are a Groupon for food and drinks," says Pagidipati, CEO and founder of
MealDeal. "We provide daily deals for restaurants, which are customized to your liking."
Pagidipati says the site has been up and running since mid-April and he already has 30,000 members. "We have grown through word of mouth and social media outlets," Pagidipati says. "People like our site because we let the customers decide what restaurants they will receive deals from.''
Pagidipati says he will be hiring very soon. "I plan to hire at least 10 people at our
Tampa headquarters in the next six months," Pagidipati says. "I need people to work in the back office, customer service and operations departments."
Pagidipati, who calls himself a serial entrepreneur, has started other successful businesses including
Freedom Health in Tampa, which also houses MealDeal operations for the time being.
As a successful entrepreneur, Pagidipati says he looks for those qualities in potential employees as well.
"We are looking for self-starters, people who are used to working in a high-performance environment," he says. "It's more than just a job. As my friend says, I am looking for PHDs, those who are poor, hungry and driven."
