Philanthropic Young Tampa Bay (PYT) has joined forces with the Florida Orchestra to provide free tickets to young professionals for an upcoming orchestra concert. PYT, launched at the beginning of the year, strives to connect local young professionals with cultural philanthropy. The free orchestra tickets are part of the group's fall project.
"The orchestra is something we want to support, and we saw an opportunity to do that with this project," says Hampton Dohrman, co-founder of PYT and director of
Hampton Arts Management. "The orchestra is always struggling to get young people to their events, so the free tickets will hopefully help with that."
While the free tickets are an innovative way to get young professionals to the orchestra, Dohrman hopes that it will connect the younger demographic to the arts long-term.
"As someone working in the arts, I work with these amazing people all the time," Dohrman says. "Young professionals working in a law office or similar workplace may not get the chance to connect with people in the arts any other way. We want to open their eyes to new things, and build a base of young people, who as they get older and get involved on boards will have a connection with the arts community."
The free tickets are not just for PYT members. Dohrman says the free tickets are for anyone under 40 years of age. The concert tickets will be for a
Florida Orchestra performance on Friday, December 2nd, at the
Straz Center for the Performing Arts. Those interested in attending can register online at
